The Club at Castiglion del Bosco has welcomed the announcement that Tom Weiskopf will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2024.

The golf course of The Club at Castiglion del Bosco was Tom's only design in Continental Europe and a place he returned to frequently. It is set within the historic 800 year old Tuscan estate and it overlooks the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO protected landscape. Every year Tom hosted the annual Weiskopf Invitational Member & Guest tournament each May.

Massimo Ferragamo, founder of The Club at Castiglion del Bosco, has fond memories of working with Tom and remembers him: “Working with Tom Weiskopf was an absolute pleasure. It became more fun than work. It was great to see how Tom loved Tuscany and devoted his time and efforts to all aspects of the wonderful project at Castiglion del Bosco. Great care and attention was taken during the design and construction, as the golf course is located within a National Park and Unesco Heritage Site. Tom understood and embraced this and what he created was a masterpiece, which gets better every year.”

Massimo Ferrgamo added: “Through work, we became friends and I am proud of having met Tom and his lovely wife Laurie. These memories will endure forever.”

Following Tom’s passing in August 2022, The Club produced a special pictorial feature and video, ‘Art on the Ground,’ to celebrate Tom’s life and times in Tuscany.

David Waters, General Manager of The Club at Castiglion del Bosco, said, “While we miss Tom dearly, we say, ‘Congratulazioni!’ on the announcement of his induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame. It is richly deserved.

“As our golf course designer, Tom created something of great beauty in the Tuscan landscape. As a friend of The Club, he brought warmth and camaraderie, bringing Members together wherever he was in the world.”

Tom Weiskopf recorded 28 tournament victories, including the 1973 Open Championship, and twice played for Team USA at The Ryder Cup.

He joins an elite group to become a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. The 2024 Induction Ceremony will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, coinciding with the 124th U.S. Open Championship.
